About Nowseen Maisha

As the semester wraps up, Nowseen takes a moment to reflect on the past few months—what challenged her, what she accomplished, and where she’s headed next. Above all, she’s most proud of her improved time management and strengthened work ethic. Despite moments of pressure and stress, she found ways to navigate deadlines and responsibilities in a way that worked for her.

The biggest challenge Nowseen faced was biology. The course proved overwhelming, and ultimately, she made the difficult decision to drop it. While it wasn’t the outcome she initially hoped for, the experience taught her a valuable lesson about knowing her limits and choosing where to invest her time and energy. Rather than letting the setback define her semester, she redirected her focus and continued to work hard in her other classes. Interestingly, Nowseen says her mindset hasn’t changed much since the beginning of the semester. However, her habits certainly have. She now uses her time more efficiently, making a conscious effort to prioritize tasks and stay on top of what matters. While she often found herself cramming study sessions and assignments before important events, those high-pressure moments taught her how to stay focused and productive under tight deadlines.

Outside the classroom, Nowseen made her mark by joining a cultural club on campus. One of the most memorable and meaningful experiences for her this semester was setting up the stage for a club performance. The hands-on collaboration and the excitement of contributing to something bigger than herself gave her a new sense of connection to campus life and the community around her. One academic area where Nowseen experienced notable growth was in writing science-based research papers. Throughout the semester, she developed a better grasp of structuring her thoughts, citing sources, and communicating scientific ideas clearly—skills that will benefit her in future courses and beyond.

Looking back, if she could offer advice to her past self, it would be simple but important: “Do not pile up your assignments—do them on time.” That piece of advice reflects both her biggest hurdle and the progress she’s made in managing her workload more responsibly. Looking ahead, Nowseen’s main goal is to get a job. With a stronger sense of how to manage her time and prioritize responsibilities, she feels ready to take on new challenges beyond the classroom. Whether it’s in academics or work, she’s building the foundation she needs to succeed—and this semester was an important step in that journey.

For Nowseen M., the semester was about staying in sync and finishing it all. What she is most proud of was not a singular achievement but the consistency she could provide to all: submission of assignments on time. A constant rhythm, if you will; but that is something that we find rare during these frantic college days.

Biology posed one of the highest hurdles for her-that is, until she took the decision to drop it. But clarity came. Instead of going through the streams with something that was not serving her, she just took a step back to redirect her energies. That kind of consciousness is an evident indicator of growth and maturity.

No significant attitude changes came to her mind during the semester, but she did come to see that there is an active approach to academics. She found that it is worth putting some time into studying; mostly that is a lesson learned the hard way. Her honesty about procrastinating up to the last night before an exam and still passing paints a genuine picture of student life and the tightrope act that goes along with it.

Beyond class, Nowseen was actively engaging with the campus community as a cultural club activist. Daylight stage preparations for performances with some actual performing remain a reference point on her memory landscape. Those experiences made her feel part of a bigger entity and stand testimony to her creative and team-player spirit.

In the future, Nowseen is keen on applying for a job-a key milestone toward independence and future planning. Her school goals are set on concrete actions like doing schoolwork and furthering her study habits.

From my interactions with her, one thing that stood out for me is her calm self-confidence and her pragmatic approach to problems. She has no inclination toward dramatizing the obstacles nor inflating the triumphs-she simply does what needs to be done. Such a calm temperament, coupled with her work behind the scenes and ever-growing sense of responsibility, is something one can rely on. Nowseen’s story through this semester served as a reminder that success does not always come in the form of big, flashy accomplishments. Sometimes it’s in being dependable, embracing failures, and showing up for another human being and for yourself.
